Water is fed to the plant at rate of
125L/sec. A series of dams have been purposely built to handle filtering the
return water for reticulation.
-
The plant is powered by two switchboards,
each of 5x2m in dimension. 800amps is used by the plant as compared to 30amps
for a residential house. Two integral energy power transformers were purposely
installed to handle the capacity of the plant.
-
Lightning protection on the entire plant,
electrical components and surrounds has been installed.
-
Approximately 70,000 tonnes of earth was
removed to make way for the construction of both the plant and dams.
-
Approximately 900 cubic metres of concrete
was used for the footings, slabs and the cast blocks used for retaining
surrounding areas.
-
7 pumps reticulate product and water
through the plant.
-
21 Motors adding up to 340KW is required
to turn pumps and drive conveyors.
-
Once product enters the feed bin it
requires 3 minutes to be washed and stockpiled for dispatch.
-
150 tonne of product is produced every
hour, doubling the production rate of the Milperra wash plant.
-
The Department of Mines confirmed that the
plant has been built to better standards in terms of OH&S, which shows the
commitment that Collins has towards building a safe environment for all
employees and visitors.
